On a near daily basis, people ask me if I miss New York. And the answer is I’m usually too busy to miss anything! But sometimes their questions catch me off guard and I’m taken down memory lane a little bit. I miss the excitement of the big city especially during times like Fashion Week, or when I get invited to an event by a brand I absolutely love. I miss the friends I made there and the to-die-for Banh Mi sandwich place on my street (be sure to go to Num Pang if you’re ever in NYC!) and the seemingly endless supply of Instagram-worthy Australian coffee shops. I’m so grateful for the experience, and I think I’ll always smile when I talk about it and bring my kids there one day and talk like “way back when, in my twenties, I lived right on this very street…” haha!
But it’s true when they say home is where the heart is. While I miss NYC like crazy, I’ve come to the realization that I am the best version of myself in Hawaii. I’m more relaxed, at peace, one with nature, I can run around in sandals all year long, and just live the way I lived growing up – free as a bird. I never think about how small it is, or that I run into the same people all the time…I love that about it. This outfit right here is pretty much one I’d wear any day in Hawaii: easy breezy resort wear with a touch of glam brought about by these funky sunglasses and a fun bag. 100% casual and comfortable is the name of my game!
I would love to hear – where did you all grow up, and where do you live now?
